You’ll see the themes she loved emerge in all kinds of media throughout the site, much of her talent was expressed with watercolor though. See the About page for more information about Janet’s background, or scroll down to see blog posts and more.

Celebrating Janet
Today would have been Janet’s 84th birthday. She is missed dearly and also celebrated daily…Today in particular I wanted to post a few of Janet’s beautiful artworks that I have had the honor of finding and digitizing for the archives project. This is a project that began around 2010 but got put aside when Janet and I were pulled by muses elsewhere. The archives project became the main focus since her passing and was significantly progressed this past summer, I continue to work on it bit by bit alongside my graduate studies. Here are a small sample of her tremendous collection, in which you find a enormous range of creations.
Love, Tana

Janet Ann Tifft received a B.A. in Art Education at Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ in 1956, and a Master of Art Education at the University of Arizona in 1966. She taught art in high school in Douglas for one year, and Art for Personal Development courses in Watercolor and Pastel at Pima Community College for several years. A signature member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild for almost 40 years, she took workshops offered by the Guild and often exhibited in their shows. She was an associate member, instructor at The Drawing Studio, and regularly exhibited in member shows. She considered this association a vital and energizing link to the practice of art. A scholarship for veterans is being established in her name.

“All artwork starts with a concept, continues with process, results in a product,” living on through its audience and innumerable interpretations…and “the paper, the pigment, the water… The interaction has a life of its own” –
Janet Tifft, 2012I had the pleasure and privilege of working with her for the past 6 years. We would typically get together once a week to work and play with her incredible ART… One of the last thematic pages we created but did not get to publishing is called the “Passage of Time” … With her permission granted I will continue working on the website and with projects we started.
